ADOPT A CIVET!

Joop - Joop came to Zooville on April 7, 2006, and
all we knew was that he was born some time in 2000.
We now celebrate his birthday on April 7! Joop
belonged to a dear friend of ours who had a facility of
his own. When he was diagnosed with terminal
cancer, he wanted to put his affairs in order, and that
included making sure all of his animals would be well
cared for. Joop is vision impaired and does not
take well to extreme changes in his environment.
All enrichment and new "furniture" has to be introduced
slowly, but one he adjusts to it - he loves it.
Joop is one of the more unique animals we have been
blessed to work with and we hope to someday be able to
find him a companion of his own kind to share his life
with.

Kopi - Kopi came to Zooville on June 27, 2005 along
with 14 other animals that were in need of a home.
We knew he had been born sometime in 2000, but since we
did not have an exact date, we now celebrate on June 27.
Kopi is an extremely shy animal and only comes out after
dark when there is no one else around. He has
become much braver since we found him a very social mate
to share his life with. Unfortunately, Kopi has
developed a cataract, and is in need of surgery.
Your adoption dollars for Kopi will go towards helping
us get him this surgery as soon as possible.

China - China was born some time in 2006 and
arrived in Zooville on June 2, 2011. We searched
for 7 years to find a female Asian palm civet for Kopi
to share his life with, and couldn't believe our luck
when someone called us about her. China is one of
the few animals the zoo has purchased, but the
difference she has made in Kopi's life makes her
priceless. She is a very social and confident
animal, and she is slowly teaching Kopi to more
confident. He follows her everywhere and they can
always be found snuggling together. She reinforces
our belief that no matter how love and attention we give
our animals, nothing takes the place of a companion of
their own kind.

Kanu - Kanu arrived on June 27, 2005 with 14
other animals. He is a picture perfect specimen
and has a wonderful disposition. Like black
leopards and jaguars, he has spots like his golden
counterpart, that can be seen when the lighting is just
right. He is very nocturnal and not often seen by
our visitors, but when the sun goes down he is very
active! He loves to explore and climb and mark his
territory.

Gigi - Gigi arrived in Zooville on July 1, 2006
and came from the same facility as Kanu. She is a
beautiful little girl, despite having had her tail
amputated. She is still able to run, climb and
balance with the best of them. Also very
nocturnal, we rarely catch a glimpse of this little
beauty unless she is coming to steal her food away and
retreat into her den.
