Under general
supervision and complete training, interns are
responsible for the care and welfare of resident
animals using existing procedures. We love to share
our knowledge and learn from your experiences as
well.
Responsibilities include all areas of animal
husbandry and related duties as needed. This
includes safety protocols, food preparation,
enrichment, operant conditioning, maintaining the
habitats of the animals and their surroundings, new
habitat construction, cross-training and supervision
of volunteers and assisting with veterinary care and
facility management.
Requirements
Participation is 8-12
weeks. Interns must be following an animal science
career path and have a minimum of one (1) year of
college completed or one (1) year of work experience
in a related field. Applicants must be able to
follow instructions, work independently, supervise
others as needed and work well as a member of a
team.
Compensation
This is an unpaid position
but lodging is provided.
